WHAT ARE PEOPLE SAYING
I would like to highly recommend Rick Ott and his clay target equipment rental operation to anyone looking for clay target traps and services for events. I have worked with Rick for the past few years and find him to be engaging and timely in his communication.  His attention to detail is without compromise.  He has a keen working knowledge of clay target traps and accessories and you can count on his equipment being in the best condition possible for your event.  When it comes to the clay target industry, Rick Ott is a superstar. ~Marty Fischer SportShooting Consultants, Ltd. Host of Wing & Clay Nation Radio, TNT Outdoor Explosion, Shotgun Journal. Designed and set target for more than 150 public and private clay target facilities in North America wingandclayradio.com
I have been a shotgun shooter for 33 years and probably an above average shooter. While participating at various venues over the years, I can safely say, few, if any have been more enjoyable than the Ott Mountain 5-Stand Extravaganza hosted by Rick. He is an NSCA Master Class shooter and truly an engineer in trap setting.  His business is top shelf when it comes to presentation, both amateur and professional targets, and his view is on safety, so as to accommodate the novice or experienced shooter. His background in the corporate world will provide any event sponsored with fun and team building. For a corporate, fun or family event, enjoying his friendly and accommodating personality, you will experience an event long remembered. ~Judge J. Antanavage

I met Rick about ten years ago through mutual shooting friends. Since that occasion I have spent a good bit of time in Rick's presence, shooting, hunting and participating in his annual Ott Mountain Shooting Challenge at his private course. In Rick's private life he has managed large companies. He is organized, professional, trustworthy and friendly. As for as shooting ability Rick is near the top. Rick's keen eye not only helps him to be a great shooter but also allows him to analyze targets. Through his shooting experience and work experience at Lincoln Traps, Rick understands how to set targets. He knows how to set a course for novice shooters or professionals. Regardless of the difficulty level his target setting is always interesting and unique. But, most of all the courses are fun! ~Paul Herbein Henry's Fine Guns
I highly recommend Rick and his team to anyone looking to rent trap shooting equipment. Whether you are seasoned shooters or amateur enthusiasts, Rick has the equipment and knowledge to make your event a great success. The Rod and Gun Club's centennial celebration trap shoot would not have been possible without the great customer service, equipment, and support provided by Rick! All of our questions were answered quickly and professionally. When the time came for the event, we were set up with all the necessities and given thorough training on the equipment. We had a wonderful experience and would happily work with Ott Mountain Rentals for another event! ~Kyle M. Conklin Hollow Land Association

How much property do I need?It depends on the shape of the property but we can work with as little as 12 acres if the configuration is ideal. The image below shows how a 5-stand/multi trap layout creates shots that fly in various directions that requires more space. However, a wobble/single trap has a much more defined flight path and can be setup in a more restricted area. We will confirm size via satellite mapping but you can check for yourself by using Google.maps and right clicking to at measurement lines.
-
What does it cost? The experience page shows all associated costs. Please take note of the following costs outlined on that page. - Equipment - Delivery and Setup* - Targets - Full Service (Optional) *Additional mileage fee beyond our included delivery range of 75 miles from Benton, PA
-
What equipment do I need?A safe shotgun & target load shotgun shells with 7 1/2, 8, 8 1/2, 9 shot size (7 1/2 or 8 is ideal). The number of shells per shooter varies greatly but a new shooter is generally comfortable shooting 2-3 boxes (box=25 shells). Participants can and often do share a shotgun but ideally you would only share a shotgun with one other person.
-
Do I need my own ear and eye protection? We encourage each participant to bring their personal ear and eye protection but we will have ear plugs and safety glasses for anyone who does not have them available.
-
What happens if we accidentally break a machine?Typical wear and tear is on us and our traps can throw millions of clays with no issues. If any damage occurs due to negligence or improper use of the machines (very rare) the cost of parts and repair will be billed to the client.
-
Do I need to sign a contract or release form?Yes, you will provided a written estimate and invoice both of which will require your approval prior to the event. For events that do not include Full Service, as outlined on the experiences page you will be required to sign a release of liability form for your event. Which states you will accept responsibility for the safety of your guests and equipment.
-
Do you offer instruction or coaching?During Full Service events safety instructions will be provided and enforced during the event. Basic shooting skills and techniques are included with all Full Service events at no additional cost. If you want to have a dedicated certified instructor available a quote can be provided upon request.
-
Is Ott Mountain Trap Rentals insured?Yes, Ott Mountain LLC. maintains liability coverage and a certificate of insurance will be provided upon request.
-
What about the noise? For an occasional weekend event it's not a problem. However, as a courtesy we would recommend that you make your neighbors aware of the dates and times of your event to ensure there are no obvious conflicts like outdoor weddings, graduation parties, etc.
-
Do I need a license to participate at an event? No license is required to shoot sporting clays.
-
Do I need electricity available? No, all our traps and release equipment run on DC batteries that we will provide.
-
Can children participate?Yes, but the child's parent or legal guardian must be present. Each child matures differently and their parent is in the best place to make this decision. Whatever decision you make ensure the end result will be a positive experience for your young shooter. If you plan on having a child participate please share this with us before the event.
-
How about clean up after an event? For Full Service events we will pick up and remove all empty shell hauls and all trash generated by the event. Broken clays do breakdown over time but you should expect to have clay debris scattered in shooting field.
